Transferring Photograph Files to Your Fine Art Printer

A Step-by-Step Guide for a seamless transfer.

As a professional photographer, ensuring your digital images are correctly prepared and transferred to your fine art print studio is crucial to achieving the highest quality prints. We have put together some simple steps to follow to help you navigate this process seamlessly.

Step 1 - Contact the Studio

This is probably an obvious step, but it is important to get in touch with us prior to sending your files. We can discuss you print requirements and ensure the process is smooth. We can also provide a more efficient service for you if we know your requirements before sending the files.

You can contact us at connect@jrpstudio.com.au or 0408 285 521

Step 2 - Preparing Your Files

To achieve the best print results for you there are certain file preparations that we prefer:

TIF. Files are the best format for printing due to their high quality and lossless nature, this only if you are shooting in RAW format in your camera. Open and export your developed image file or files from Lightroom as a TIF into your chosen folder on your computer.

As you export check the following attributes are applied

·      Image type -‘TIF.’

·      Dimensions - ‘Full Sized

·      Bit Depth -‘16bits

·      Compression – ‘none

·      Colour Space – Pro Photo RGB (Preferred) or Adobe RGB

·      Ensure you files and folders are clearly named for easy reference.

Note - If you are shooting in Jpeg format in your camera, let us know.

Step 3 - Transferring your files

We use WeTransfer, which is great for sending large files via email and is free for file transfers under 2GB. Anything above 2GB and you will need to sign up for a plan. Visit wetransfer.com and add our email address connect@jrpstudio.com.au and the files you wish to send.

In the message section make sure you add any special requirements you may have.

Step 4 - We prepare your files in Studio

We will download your files and start preparing your image for print. At this point we may contact you if we need any further information or have any sizing concerns with your image file.

Step 5 - Printing your images

Your images will now be printed according to your size and paper requirements. Prints are touch-dry within minutes of printing and can placed into the acid-free, clear sleeve with a backing board for protection. Your print can either be picked up in Studio or mailed to you.
